Register open for high rise residential buildings

10 May 2023

The Building Safety Act 2022 requires all high-rise residential buildings in England that are at least 7 floors high, or 18 metres tall or higher, with two or more residential units to be registered by 1 October 2023.

It is a legal requirement to register high-rise residential buildings with the fee to register each building set at £251. As part of each application, the principle accountable person is required to provide information about the building’s structure and safety and this information can be added to applications already made from May 2023 at no additional cost.

The information provided during registration will help in assessing the building’s risks as part of your safety case report and it will also be used by the Building Safety Regulator to help prioritise buildings for the building assessment certificate process from April 2024.
